Golf betting tips for The Open Championship
 (in more detail):
Viktor Hovland:
  • To win outright (2 points win @ 20/1).

  • Current form (last 5 starts): T16 – 1 – 19 – T29 – T25.

  • Tournament form (last 4 starts): DNP – DNP – T12 – T4.

Reasons to believe – Viktor Hovland:

“I believe Viktor Hovland is on the verge of a major breakthrough. He is on a great run of form in terms of consecutive cuts made, including a win at The Memorial. He also finished 12th and 4th in his last two Open Championship appearances. I believe he is the most complete player in the world right now and has the qualities to win any tournament, including the Open Championship. He has to be my top pick this week.” – ParUp Golf’s resident tipster ‘Big Dal’ on why he can win.

Jordan Spieth:
  • Each-way (1 point e/w @ 33/1 – 8 places, 1/5 odds).

  • Current form (last 5 starts): T29 – MC – T5 – MC – MC.

  • Tournament form (last 4 starts): T9 – T20 – 2 – T8.

Reasons to believe – Jordan Spieth:

“When I was putting my list together for the Open Championship, Jordan Spieth and Viktor Hovland were the first two players to come to mind. I opted with Hovland as my top pick due to his recent form, but Spieth’s record at the Open Championship is simply too good to ignore. He won the tournament in 2017 and has finished in the top 20 in each of his last four appearances. He may have missed his last two cuts, but I believe he is still a major contender and should be on everyone’s shortlist this week.” – ParUp Golf’s resident tipster ‘Big Dal’ on why he can win.

Shane Lowry:
  • Each-way (1 point e/w @ 33/1 – 8 places, 1/5 odds).

  • Current form (last 5 starts): T16 – T43 – T20 – T19 – T12.

  • Tournament form (last 4 starts): MC – 1 – T12 – T21.

Reasons to believe – Shane Lowry:

“Lowry has been playing solid golf all season, but without really troubling the top of the leaderboard. His recent form (last few starts) is good and playing on a links course this week, will clearly suit his game. I believe he will be in contention this weekend.” – ParUp Golf’s resident tipster ‘Big Dal’ on why he can win.

Tony Finau:
  • Each-way (1 point e/w @ 55/1 – 8 places, 1/5 odds).

  • Current form (last 5 starts): T72 – MC – T32 – T45 – MC.

  • Tournament form (last 4 starts): T9 – 3 – T15 – T28.

Reasons to believe – Tony Finau:

“Finau wasn’t on my radar when I started putting together my list this week, but his form in the Open can’t be ignored. He won fairly recently at the Mexico Open and I also believe he is slightly overpriced this week.” – ParUp Golf’s resident tipster ‘Big Dal’ on why he can win.

Denny McCarthy:
  • Each-way (1 point e/w @ 100/1 – 8 places, 1/5 odds).

  • Current form (last 5 starts): T29 – 2 – T20 – T7 – T6.

  • Tournament form (last 4 starts): N/A – First appearance.

Reasons to believe – Denny McCarthy:

“McCarthy is worth an each-way bet at 100/1. He is playing well at the moment and is deadly with the putter, both of which are important factors at the Open Championship. Although he is making his first appearance at the Open, the course should suit his game. I believe he is overpriced and could be a dark horse this week.” – ParUp Golf’s resident tipster ‘Big Dal’ on why he can win.

Big Dal’s, big price outsider
– Brian Harman
:
  • Each-way (1 point e/w @ 125/1 – 8 places, 1/5 odds).

  • Current form (last 5 starts): MC – T43 – T2 – T9 – T12.

  • Tournament form (last 4 starts): MC – MC – T19 – T6.

Reasons to believe – Brian Harman:

“Harman tends to go under the radar a bit. He is not the biggest of hitters, but he is very good around the greens, which is important at the Open Championship. He has been in great form lately, with three top-12 finishes in his last three starts (T2 – T9 – T12). He also finished 19th and 6th in his last two appearances in the Open Championship. At 125/1, he is great value, especially when you consider he is one of the top 30 golfers in the world at the moment.” – ParUp Golf’s resident tipster ‘Big Dal’ on why he can win.
