  • Track RSVPs and payments effortlessly.

You can create as many groups as you like and each group can have as few or as many members as you choose. Simply go to the Groups section of the app and follow the steps to create one.

How do I join an existing group?

The Group Admin of the group would need to invite you to join the group by sending you a link. When clicking on the link, if you do not have the app, you will be encouraged to download the app and join the group, and if you are already a user of the app, you will be taken to the Group members page where you will be asked to ‘Join’.

How do the digital scoring and live leaderboards work?

The scorer enters players’ scores after each hole, updating scorecards and the live leaderboard automatically. It’s just like paper scoring but faster and more interactive.

Can I use the app for friendly rounds outside of group events?

Yes, you can use ParUp Golf to score your friendly rounds by selecting the ‘Start a Round Instantly’ link on the homepage.

What scoring formats are supported by the app?

ParUp Golf supports Stableford, strokeplay, and matchplay scoring formats.

Can I track cumulative scores over multiple events?

Yes, you can create a ‘Series’ leaderboard which can link multiple Group Event scores to a single competition; from 2 rounds in one day, to several rounds over a long weekend, to a season long leaderboard essentially creating your own Order of Merit!

Can I use the app without creating an account?

No, an account is required to access all features. However, if you’re playing with a friend who doesn’t have an account, you can add them as a ‘Non-app User’ by entering their name and handicap.

What information do I need to provide when signing up?

Name, gender, location, date of birth, email address, and handicap. You can also add a profile picture to personalise your account, though this is optional.

How do I set or update my handicap in the app?

Groups and Social Features

How do I create or join a group and invite friends?

To create a group, go to the ‘Groups’ section and follow the prompts. To join a group, the Group Admin must send you an invitation link. Once received, click the link to download the app (if you haven’t already) and join. Admins can share links via email, WhatsApp, or text.

How do I connect with other golfers in the app?

Go to the ‘Friends’ section of the app and select ‘Add friends’. You can then search for friends or fellow group members to invite to your friends list. A friend needs to ‘Approve’ or ‘Deny’ any friend request for privacy purposes, before they will be added to your friends list.

How does the ‘Team’ scoring work?

If the Group Admin selects the optional Team element when creating a Group Event, they will need to decide on the team sizes (dependant on whether you are playing 2, 3 or 4 ball groups) and the number of balls that contribute to the team scores (either 1 or 2).

A team can consist of 2, 3 or 4 players who need to be playing together and all player’s being scored by the one chosen scorer.

Each team will either contribute their ‘Best’ ball score or their ‘Best 2 ball’ scores to the team score. The team leaderboard will be available to view throughout the round.

How does the ‘Series’ scoring work?

If the Group Admin selects an Event should form part of a Series, the admin will need to create a series to link to. A series name will be created and the rules in terms of the number of rounds that contribute. All rounds, player’s best 3 rounds, best 5 rounds etc.

Can I find and join groups in my local area?

ParUp Golf intends to grow a network of Public Groups for users to join, however, at this moment you need to be invited to private groups or societies by the Group Admin.

How do the social side games (longest drive, closest to the pin) work?

When you create a Friendly round or a Group Admin creates a group event, there is the option to include a Longest Drive and Nearest the Pin competition. One or two holes maximum can be selected when setting-up the round for each side-game.

When the scorer is scoring that selected hole, before inputting the player’s gross scores, the scorer is asked, who, if anyone, won the side game. If someone from the group set or beat the previous best, then select that player from the list provided. A Longest Drive or Nearest the Pin icon will be included next to that player’s name on the event leaderboard.

For Group events, a physical marker is required on the course for both side games. ParUp Golf will record who is currently winning and who ultimately won.

Handicaps

Is the ParUp Handicap linked to the World Handicap Index used by golf federations?

Not yet, but we plan to introduce WHS integration soon. For now, use the ParUp Handicap Index to track your game.

What is the ‘ParUp Handicap Index’ and what is the ‘Group Handicap’

The ParUp Handicap Index is the handicap you input on registration and manage yourself by updating through the app when you need to. It is essentially the Course handicap so adjust it based on the handicap tables at the golf course.

Th ‘Group Handicap’ is separate and can be different to your ‘ParUp Handicap’ and will be set by the auto-handicap rules set within the app, or edited by the group admin after each Group Event.

How does the automated group handicap adjustment system work?

If the Group Admin for a group you are a member of selects to use the automated group handicap rules, then after each group event, the rules will automatically change your handicap based on your stableford or strokeplay score submitted.

You can have multiple Group handicaps if you play in multiple groups but you can only have one ParUp Golf Handicap, which the users sets and is used for friendly rounds and the first round of a group event.

A Group Admin, can also manually update your Group Handicap if they need to.

Golf Courses

Does the app work at all golf courses?

Yes, as long as we have the course included on our database. ParUp Golf has the data for over 30,000 Golf Clubs and 39,000 Golf courses worldwide. We currently only cater for 18-hole courses, but will be adding 6 and 9-hole courses very soon.

How do I find my golf course in the app?

When creating your round or event, first select Country, which will filter golf courses just in that country to the list under Golf Course. Use the search bar by typing the name of the course and it will appear in the list to select.

What if I can’t find a golf course listed when creating a new event?

If your course isn’t listed, email us at info@parup.golf with the course name, location, and a scorecard image. We’ll add it as soon as possible.

What should I do if the data for my golf club (e.g. the par or stroke index) is incorrect?

Occasionally golf clubs update the Stroke Index or Par of their courses without our knowledge, meaning the course data will be incorrect.

Please email us at info@parup.golf stating the name and location of the golf course and ideally include an image displaying the correct scorecard and ParUp Golf will get the correct data updated in the app for you ASAP.
