The spotlight for this post is on Series Scoring, which is a great feature in the ParUp app that allows you to run multi-round leaderboards across any of your group events. It’s perfect for weekend trips or season-long orders of merit, because crowning the winners and calling out the losers should always last more than just one round!
Once you’ve created a new series for your group, any new event can then be added to the series. You can also have multiple series per group, so it could be your annual season-long competition, alongside another two-day event or a long-weekend trip. It can become the home of all your group golf, making it easier to look back at the winners (and losers!) from previous years and competitions.
There is the option to select from multiple series scoring formats (e.g. could be total cumulative stableford points for a long weekend away and the best 7 events from 12 for an annual order of merit).
The instructions for group organisers looking to create a new series:
- When on the ‘create event’ screen, toggle the ‘series scoring‘ button on.
- On the ‘choose series‘ overlay, tap on ‘+ Add new‘.
- Add a series name of your choice and select the preferred scoring option (choosing between the total cumulative or best X number of rounds count).
- Save the new series and then select this new series to be associated with your group event.
- Going forward, other new group events that are created can be added to the same series.
Once the series is underway, you can view the latest leaderboard by navigating to your group and then tapping on the ‘series‘ tab in the top navigation.
